ANDY Z NEEDS YOUR KIDNEY

ANDY ZEIBERG NEEDS A KIDNEY DONOR!

WE ARE LOOKING FOR FOLKS TO SIGN UP AND SEE IF THEY ARE A MATCH TO BE A LIVING DONOR.

THERE WILL ALSO BE OTHER WAYS TO HELP THE ZEIBERGS, SO STAY TUNED!

ORGAN DONATION

If you want to sign up to see if you’re a match for Andy to donate a kidney, we thank you. Becoming a living donor is an incredible gift, and an uphill battle.

Filling out the initial paperwork does not obligate you or commit you to anything. But, it does start the (potentially) long screening process for becoming a match for Andy. We ask that you complete the intake forms through Mass General Hospital, as that is where Andy is receiving care and will undergo the transplant operation.

Some things to know about donating:

Living kidney donation is when a healthy person donates one of their two kidneys while they are alive.

You must be at least 18 years old.

There are some medical conditions that could prevent you from being a living donor, including having uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, or cancer. If you’re a smoker, you will most likely be asked to quit before being approved to donate.

If you turn out not to be a good match, another option is a “paired exchange”. A paired exchange involves two pairs of living donors and their recipients. The two recipients “swap” donors so that each receives a kidney from the other person’s donor.

ALL ABOUT ANDY

Who doesn’t love Andy?! He’s a ‘funny, funny man’ who is quick to help, laugh, pick up your phone call, and more. Many don’t realize how many health struggles he’s been through. Andy has been in kidney failure and on the inactive transplant list for several years. We are now in search for a living donor to keep Andy around for as long as possible. MEAL TRAIN

There are a lot of ways to help the Zeibergs right now, and we know that not everyone will be able to become an organ donor. We are humbly asking that anyone who would like to stay updated, check back on the page linked below for the right opportunity for them to stay in the loop. Thank you!
